We need to touch the world that precedes naming.

We perceive the world by dividing it with words. But every division leaves something cut away.

We see only what has been divided, and forget what was discarded. Yet the world exists before it is named.

I feel a deadlock in living only within what has been divided.

To move forward, I believe we now need to reach back to what precedes division.

So I give a physical body to words through sho — calligraphy — and then blur it, enclose it, burn it, making visible the process of language being stripped away.

Standing before that process as it unfolds, we might touch the presence of what was discarded.

名づけの手前にある世界に、私たちは触れる必要がある。

私たちは言葉で世界を切り分けることで、世界を認識している。

しかし切り分けるとき、必ず切り捨てられる部分が生まれる。

私たちは切り分けられたものだけを見て、切り捨てられたものを忘れていく。

世界は、名づけられる前から在るのに。

切り分けられたものの中だけで生きることに、私は行き詰まりを感じている。

私たちはこの先へ進むために、言語を持ったまま、切り分けの手前に触れ直すことが、いま必要だと思う。

だから私は、書によって言葉に体を与え、その体を——曇らせ、閉じ、焼くことで——言葉が剥がれていくプロセスを可視化する。

剥がれていく現場に立ち会うとき、私たちは切り捨てられたものの気配に触れられるのではないか。
