UTSUWA

In my exhibition UTSUWA (Vessel),

I explore the idea that letters are vessels for things.

When I look at the world, I see that words hold meaning without ever revealing it completely.

A vessel is the visible outline of something invisible — and to us,

letters are precisely that: the contours of existence.

Like a Buddhist altar or a church that has a physical form yet addresses what has no form,

my works treat the written character as a visible vessel that contains an unseen presence within.

The recurring use of frosted glass suggests this relationship

— it conceals and reveals at once, allowing only a faint silhouette to appear beyond.

This exhibition continues from my previous series UTSUTSU,

which focused on the letter as a vessel, and SoC,

inspired by the form of a wall-mounted altar.

In both, the vessel and what it contains coexist

— the tangible and the intangible are never separate.

Through UTSUWA, I search for that boundary,

where form and presence, language and silence, begin to merge.

For me, a vessel is not only a container,

but a pathway beyond the limits of language —

a form that quietly holds what cannot be spoken.

本展「UTSUWA（器）」では

文字は事物の器であるという考えをもとに制作している。

私たちは世界を言葉によって理解しようとするが、言葉はその中身を完全に見せることはない。

器とは、見えないものの輪郭であり、私たちにとって文字はまさにそのような存在である。

仏壇や教会のように、形をもつ器が形のない存在に向けられているように、

私の作品では、文字という形が、人の理解を超えた、

静かで圧倒的な存在の気配を内に宿している。

共通して用いている磨りガラスは、その関係性を示すものだ。

それは中を隠しながらも、わずかな光や影（シルエット）を透かして見せる。

本展は、文字そのものを器であり、存在でもあるとしたシリーズ《UTSUTSU》と、

壁掛け仏壇をモチーフに、仏壇に器の役割を託して文字を気配とするシリーズ《SoC》

を受け継ぎながら、形と内側の存在、言葉と沈黙が交わる境界を探る試みである。

私にとって「器」とは、

単なる入れ物ではなく、

言葉の限界を越えて、言葉では届かないものへと触れるための通路である。

それは、静かに「見えないもの」を抱くかたちでもある。
